GDR Royal Star was foaled in 2010 and is descended from legendary Gypsy bloodlines that include The Boss, The Business, and The Roadsweeper. The spitting image of her sire, Sir Royal Excalibur, she is a lovely example of the Vanner type. Her family tree is thick with show winners, including her full brother who won a World Reserve Championship. On the tall end of what Gypsy standard allows, this mare stands 15.3 hands high and is well built for both riding and driving. Her natural movement is dressage-like, with a long stride and flowy gaits which she passes on to her offspring. Her color is Silver Black, which is the dilution of the black color, commonly referred to as Silver Dapple. She is Homozygous Black and carries one silver gene (EEnz).

Though part of her job is to produce foals, GDR Royal Star is not "just a brood mare." She is also a dream come true, and a living legacy to the love of horses that my mother gave to me. At the barn, we call her Vivien, a name shared by both my mother and the Lady of the Lake of the Arthurian legends. She is ridden extensively on trail and several times a year she rides out in local parades, all with grace and calm. She is currently in training to drive, and her carriage and work ethic are already exceptional. The gentle curiousness with which she greets every new challenge has made everything I've done with her seem easy. Her sweet nature and gentle disposition are truly a testament to the Gypsy horse breed.
